Printing Your Yearbook
When it comes to printing your yearbook, you have the final say on what’s what. However, we do have a few recommendations.
Yearbooks want to be bright, fun and full of colour, so getting the print quality spot on is really important. This is why we would recommend choosing a glossy paper for the inside pages. When printing high quality images, you want to make sure the pictures don’t show through on the next page so a 135gsm is the best option.
Although we have seen some yearbooks in A5 size, A4 is better! You can fit more on the page meaning there is space for full class photos.
The binding you choose for your yearbook really depends on your budget. You can have a yearbook created as a booklet, paperback or hardback book. All three options look great and work for this type of product. We would always say to go for a hardback as they last longer and look special but they can be pricey. Use our instant quote calculator to get an idea of what it will cost to produce your school yearbook.
Not every yearbook is the same, if you need more advice on your options then our expert account managers can assist you on info@bookprintinguk.com or 01733 898102.
Designing Your Yearbook
Designing your school yearbook is a big task but there are many ways to get this done without too much stress.
We have a team of in-house designers who can help with the interior layout and cover design of your yearbook, to find out more head over to our design page.
You can use the skills you have in your school; hunt down a student with graphic design skills and they can use our pre-formatted templates to get started.
If you want to use an online yearbook creator, take a look at our sister company Leavers’ Books. Over on the Leavers’ Book website we have a selection of templates where you can add your text and pictures to make designing your yearbook simple.
As mentioned before, our designers can perform a free file assessment on your files to ensure they are print ready and you’re not in for any nasty surprises when you open your custom printed planners.
Other Things You Need To Consider When Printing Your Yearbook
What to include in your yearbook
As well as the obvious class photographs, awards and pupil profile pages you could also add teacher profiles, then and now pictures, and some 'remember when' moments. For more ideas on what to include in your yearbook and templates to make it super easy check out our sister company leaversbooks.com.
Who is paying for the books?
Are your yearbooks going to be a gift from the school or is this something the parents will have to pay for? We often see PTAs fundraising to get together the funds for yearbooks.
Not printing a standard yearbook?
Don't worry, we print all sorts of things for hundreds of schools, check out our school printing information.
Our Recommendations
We would always recommend going for an A4, colour yearbook. This will ensure there is plenty of space to include photographs and that those photos look amazing on every page. Using a 135gsm gloss paper will enhance the photos and make the colours pop.
Yearbooks are great as paperbacks if you are working to a budget or you can go for a hardback if you want to have something extra special.

I found it really easy to use bookprintinguk to print my son's class yearbook. They were helpful throughout the process and the price was very competitive compared with other online yearbook generators. I would definitely use them again.
