Printing Your Autobiography
When printing your autobiography, you may have lots of questions: What size should my autobiography be? Is there an optimal number of pages it should include? We are here to help; give us a call or pop on live chat and your very own account manager can answer these and any other questions you may have.
There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to printing your autobiography. This is your story and the final decisions are entirely up to you! There are a few things we would recommend. You want this to be a book that will stand the test of time, look beautiful and feel special, with this in mind we would suggest that you opt for hardback binding. You can then add special touches such as a cloth cover with matching ribbon marker or gold foil to give it that real wow factor.
If hardback binding is a little out of your budget, there’s no need to worry. We often see autobiographies as paperback books, and these can be made to look just as special if some time is spent on making sure the cover design really stands out.
It is a nice touch to add colour photographs into your autobiography. To keep the cost down you can choose to have these as colour insert pages rather than paying to have the whole book printed in colour.
Autobiographies can be any size from A5 to A4 or anywhere in-between. If you’ve had an extremely interesting life and have a lot of content, then it may work better as an A4 book but our preference is an A5 autobiography.
Every autobiography is going to be uniquely written and produced. If you need more advice on your options then our expert account managers can assist you on info@bookprintinguk.com or 01733 898102.
Designing Your Autobiography
If you are designing your autobiography yourself then use one of our downloadable templates that has the correct margins and page size pre-set. You can then add the text, images and other content as you wish. Once you are done you can submit the file for a free file assessment to check it is set up correctly for print.
If you would like some help with design and layout, we have a team of designers who really know what they are doing when it comes to autobiographies. Over the years we have produced hundreds of beautiful autobiographies.
You can also design your autobiography online using our book creator software at Bookitude.com, just select Memoir from the drop-down menu.

Editing
Are you going to edit and proof your autobiography yourself or do you need some help with this? If you are going to edit the book yourself you can download our self-editing checklist. If you would like some help then head over to our editing page and see what we can offer.
How many copies are you going to order?
Are you going to sell your autobiography to the general public or are you going to give them to family and friends as a gift? If the purpose of your book is to be gifted you can get a good idea of how many you will need before we start printing them. The more you have on your first order the cheaper the books become per copy so bear this in mind when placing your first order. If you plan on selling your book then you will need to purchase an ISBN number and register your book with the British Libraries.
Our Recommendations
When it comes to autobiographies there are so many options, they don't fit into a 'general' style, it really is up to you how you want the finished book to look. The differences here really come down to budget.
If budget is not a question then we would suggest you go for a hardback, A4 book, printed in full colour with foiling to the cover. However, if you are trying to keep costs down then an A5 paperback can work just as well.

Writing a small autobiography I thought it would be a good idea to have it printed professionally rather than attempting DIY copying and I came across BPUK from the internet. As a complete novice, the process turned out to be seamlessly easy and the finished product very satisfactory.
